Anti-Corona Drills

A few simple drills to give you a short no-touch no-partner grappling oriented workout, essential during the COVID19 Cora Virus pandemic and related toilet paper apocalypse.

Spur of the moment thing while working out in the park. I never pretended to be a videographer.

A few sets of each of these, plus a run beforehand and some mobility drills and stretching after, will augment binge watching instructional videos and matches online and keep you mat-ready when the academy reopens.

I did not invent any of these. Most have been around for a long time. But you can do them just about anywhere, even on concrete.

You have done this before. go low and try backwards as well as forwards.
Add a directional switch as above. You could also switch to bear crawl and back.
Keep your core engaged and do not let your back arch. Hold the last low posture for as long as you can (or as long as you like)

You can obviously do the same sort of thing for other throws. I’ve done this the width of a football field, but not the length … so far. Corona-related boredom may change that. I might even do a lap if it comes to that.
The Travelling Maxercist, named after fifth degree black belt and fitness expert Steve Maxwell. Squat, sprawl back, downward dog, wrestler’s pushup (Dand), normal pushup, downward dog, jump to squat, squat jump. repeat.

This time of isolation and separation is the time to employ your creativity and imagination. See what solo drills you can find or come up with. There will be bored grapplers in the millions out there, and boredom can often breed amazing creations.

If you’ve done a traditional martial art in the past, suddenly those kata and forms may look useful again.
